What is washi yarn?
Washi yarn comes from the inner bark of the kozo tree, a mulberry relative cultivated in Japan for over a thousand years. The finished yarn retains the kozo plant’s natural antimicrobial properties and hollow-core structure, which traps air for insulation while allowing vapor to escape.
Unlike synthetic moisture-wicking fibers that rely on chemical coatings, washi yarn moves perspiration through capillary action within the fiber itself.
